Facilities & Equipment Operations
Brendan was elected to the board in August 2021 to the role of Facilities & Equipment Operations Director.
After a 15 year layoff from baseball and with no baseball club affiliation due to work commitments, Brendan discovered Preston Pirates Baseball Club again when they hosted the last Claxton Shield final of Victoria versus Adelaide before it became the current Australian Baseball League in 2010.
The following year he registered his two young children at the in the Pirates tee-ball program and describes the club as possibly the most welcoming and friendly he had experienced after playing in both metro and regional clubs throughout his childhood to early twenties.
On the back of registering his children to play, becoming a general committee member and taking over coaching and co-ordination of the tee-ball program, he decided to have a crack at playing again as well and having an absolute blast for a couple of seasons, before his body decided it wasn’t as enthusiastic as what was in his head and once again hung up the cleats.
Despite Brendan’s children deciding to follow other sporting pursuits, he has continued to value the enduring friendships made at the Pirates and enjoy Sunday afternoons as a spectator watching the Pirates do their thing and be amused by the passion, pacing and exasperations on the occasions things weren’t exactly going to plan on the field.
