HONOUR BOARD PROJECT

Preston Baseball Club Honour Boards Project

Respecting and acknowledging 115 years of history

When the Preston Baseball Club relocated from its home ground at Robinson Reserve in Preston to La Trobe University the Club Rooms assigned to the Club did not have the ability for the Clubs honour boards to be displayed. In the final two years before relocating to our current home at Ganbu Djila Sports Park the honour boards were once again displayed but by that stage they had not been updated for 20 years because they were not on display and had run out of room for updates.

With a long and rich history the Club has been working to ensure honour boards are on display. Having identified the honour board relocated from Robinson Reserve over 20 years ago board could not be relocated to our new club rooms at Ganbu Djla Sports park due to its size and that 20+ years of updates need to be added the Club resolved to install three new honour boards along the back wall of our new club rooms.

The Club has been able to fund the purchase of three boards and the naming and installation of one of the three boards. The club still needs to raise funds and or secure other sources of income to complete the remaining two honour boards.

To reach this point a significant amount of research has been undertaken and the Club has reached out to past players on a number of occasions to help fill in the gaps and make sure names and spelling are accurate.

Images of the three boards now posted on the Clubs social media will shortly be on display in the Club rooms, posted on our website encouraging past players to review, check and help the Club full in the gaps. Our objective is to have a first name and surname for all awards.

This is an important project for the Club. Please review and or pass onto former players and community members to help us review and update.
