Junior Program

Club Coach

Neil Southwell

Neil was appointed Junior Club Coach in July 2021.

Neil is a baseball tragic. Not a day/ minute or second seemingly goes by without him thinking about

the game of baseball.

A passion that started back in 1990 when he was introduced to his beloved Toronto Blue Jays.

Neil started his baseball playing days in Brisbane in 2000 as an off-season sport to help keep him active whilst not playing State level Volleyball, having to cut the season short due to relocating South to Victoria. After retiring from Volleyball in 2006 he again turned to baseball as his chosen sport.

From there his passion for the game grew and ultimately culminated in his becoming a Coach when his son turned 6 in 2012. Since then, Neil has coached junior teams ranging from T-Ball to U16 at Doncaster Baseball Club and is currently knocking on the door of Vic State Coaching honours having already been a part of the Vic U16 White Coaching staff as a volunteer, and as Assistant Coach for the recent U16 Vic Showcase. He is a multiple winning Coach of the Winter Baseball Association’s Diamond Valley Representative squads and has also coached Summer Charter representative teams at State

and National level.

He has a thirst for learning as much as he can so he can pass this knowledge to the Juniors of Preston Baseball Club. He is energetic, enthusiastic and hopes to be a part of Preston’s growth for many a year to come.
